Children enjoy creepy crawly visit!

Children at a Stockton day nursery showed no fear when they came face to face with all creatures creepy and slimy.

Youngsters at Little Ladybirds Day Nursery got to touch a snake, snail, millipede, cockroach and many other creatures as part of a hands-on workshop provided by ZooLab.

The workshops are designed to introduce children to exotic animals they may not regularly come into contact with. Educational-based, the workshops are led by trained Rangers who give a talk on each animal before inviting the children to touch and feel them.

Rob Hunt, North East Region Trainer for Zoo Lab, said: “The children responded very well to the animals, especially as this would have been the first time they had close up to animals like this. Even the staff were brave!”

Catherine Mason, Manager of Little Ladybirds said: “We are constantly looking at ways to make the nursery experience both fun and educational as it prepares the children for school, and sessions like these play an important part of our curriculum.”
