Firefighters make a big splash

It was all hands to the pumps as children from a Stockton nursery received a special visit from the fire brigade.

Youngsters at Little Ladybirds Day Nursery on the Preston Farm Industrial Estate were visited by fire-fighters from Stockton Fire Station as part of a ‘people who help us’ theme.

The fire-fighters spoke to the children about what they do for a living, before letting the youngsters hold a water hose and pretend to put out a fire.

Little Ladybirds Manager Catherine Mason said: “The children loved seeing the fire engine and squirting water with the hoses.

“It is nice when what the children learn in the nursery can be turned into something even more practical and we would like to thank County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service for their support.”
