FEBRUARY 2024

Welcome Back from the Little Ladybirds team

An update from Andrea and the team

The Little Ladybirds management team are looking forward to the year ahead and here Manager Claire Harrison-Jones shares with us more about some of the things the children and parents can look forward to during term time…

“We have lots of celebrations coming up, including the Lunar New Year, parents evening and much more.

“We have welcomed some new children into nursery since returning after Christmas and we are looking forward to welcoming lots more new families into Little Ladybirds over the coming weeks.

“We’ve also expanded the Little Ladybirds family with the appointments of Amy, Hollie and Jess, so please do make them feel welcome.

“As always, we’ll be working tirelessly to make sure your little one has a wonderful time with us, learning lots of new things and having plenty of fun along the way.

“Our door is always open so if you have any questions, please come and see us and one of the management team will be happy to help.”

15 Hours of Childcare Support for Two-Year-Olds Starts in April

Everything you need to know

Currently all three and four year-olds are entitled to 15 hours per week of funded childcare support.

However, from April all two-year-olds (that is children who are two or will turn two before April 1) can access the funded hours, and in September the age is lowered to include babies ages nine months.

Applications are open now and we do expect there will be significant demand for the additional hours, so please contact us asap if you want to take advantage.

To be eligible:

N

Your child is 2 years old or will turn 2 years old before 1 April 2024

N

You earn at least £8,670 a year and less than £100,000 a year adjusted net income, which is your income after some tax reliefs and deductions.

If you’re a couple, you’ll both need to earn between these amounts.

Manager Claire Harrison-Jones said: “The introduction of the 15 hours of funded childcare support for two-year-olds, which begins in April, will make a huge difference for many of our parents.

“We fully appreciate good and reliable childcare isn’t cheap and many parents do struggle with costs, so being able to access these funded hours each week will help a lot.

“Therefore, demand is going to be significant so if your child is aged two, or will turn two between now and April 1, please do speak to us as soon as possible.

“From September 1, 2024, the additional 15 hours of support will be extended to include babies aged from nine months, so if you have any questions regarding this myself, Sarah and Sharon will be happy to help.”

Please be advised you cannot access an additional 15 hours is you are already claiming them.

Little Ladybirds in the Community

What we got up to in 2023

Our community means so much to us and as we did in 2023, we will be looking to support as many initiatives and good causes as we can.

Last year we undertook a number of campaigns to help charitable groups in our area, many of which were supported by our very kind-hearted little ones.

They included collections for the food bank in Thornaby and baby bank in Stockton, which were delivered just in time for Christmas.

Supporting good causes like these are so important to us, so if you have any suggestions of campaigns that we can support please let the office team know.

A Warm Welcome to our New Starters

Meet Amy, Hollie and Jess

We’d like to extend a warm welcome to three new members of the Little Ladybirds family.

Amy Oliver, Hollie Trowsdale and Jess Willet are all working with us full time having started late last year.

Hollie and Amy have worked for nurseries previously, while for Jess this is first role as she works towards completing her apprenticeship.

Each are looking forward to working with your little ones and we know they’ll be fantastic additions to our team.

Little Ladybirds Manager Claire Harrison-Jones said: “We are delighted to welcome Hollie, Amy, and Jess to our growing family.

“With the increased demand for our services due to the introduction of the 15 hours of funded childcare support, it’s more important than ever that we have the right people with us to provide the very best level of care for your children.

“Please join them in making them feel welcome.”
