Sarah Barnfield was working in a factory before deciding she wanted to pursue a more rewarding career.
Having lots of nieces and nephews, she decided that childcare was the job for her and so went to college where she ended up with a Level 2, 3 & 4 in Childcare, as well as a Foundation Degree in Early Years.
She joined Little Ladybirds in 2012 which makes her one of our longest serving members of staff.
Having worked in pre-school and toddlers, Sarah made toddlers her ‘home’ and has been Room Leader for the last three years.
She says: “I enjoy working in toddlers because it’s a time when the children begin to develop their personality and character.
“They become really inquisitive and are like sponges, just soaking everything up.”
Sarah’s role as Room Leader involves overseeing the day-to-day running of toddlers, including supporting staff, carrying out observations, setting up activities and liaising with parents.
She adds: “There’s a low staff turnover at Little Ladybirds which I think demonstrates that it’s a nice place to work.
“We have good relationships with the staff and the children are fantastic.”early years practitioners, little ladybirds day nursery, staff profiles
