Little Ladybirds Baby Room Leader Katey Shearer has worked in childcare her entire career.

Starting at 16 and now aged 33, it’s all she has even known, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Katey explains: “I have always had a connection with children, and babies in particular, and this goes back to when I was younger and used to babysit for my cousins.”

As Baby Room leader, Katey has overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the room.

She says: “I love seeing the children grow right in front of your eyes, from starting to crawl to walking and talking, and how they all develop a little bit differently.

“Then it’s lovely to see them as they move up to the other rooms; and they always remember us when they are older.

“The baby room at Little Ladybirds is fantastic. The children have lots of space to walk, crawl, eat, sleep or do activities; it’s a nice environment to be in.”

In her spare time Katey enjoys being with her wife Helen and generally having some quiet family time.
