Our Practitioners – Laura

In Laura Furber’s case, the saying ‘never work with children and animals’ definitely did not apply.

That’s because those were the two careers she had in mind when she left school and thankfully, she chose the former because she’s now brought her 20 years of childcare experience to Little Ladybirds.

Laura joined us in November 2021 after working at a smaller nursery since leaving school at 16.

She explains: “When I was at school I either wanted to work with children or animals and this led me to nursery care and until I joined Little Ladybirds, I had worked at the same setting for 20 years.

“It was much smaller, and it had got to the stage where I wanted to try somewhere different and widen my experience.

“I couldn’t have chosen anywhere better than Little Ladybirds. It’s a lot busier and I am learning new things all the time, which is exactly what I wanted.

Laura, who has a Level 2, 3 and 4 in childcare, currently works in our toddler room although during her career she has worked with children of all ages.

She adds: “It’s nice working with toddlers because they are really starting to develop their personalities at this age

“Seeing children progress at all ages is lovely and knowing you have had a big part to play in this is extremely rewarding

“We’re striving to give them the best possible start in life as we can.”
