The experience of caring for her cousin inspired Felicity Thomas to pursue a full-time career in childcare and now she has the best of both worlds.
After leaving college with a Level 3 in childcare, Felicity cared part-time for her teenage cousin has Down’s Syndrome.
She enjoyed this experience so much that she then applied for her first full-time position as an Early Years Practitioner at Little Ladybirds, starting at the nursery in February 2023.
Three months on, she says she is “loving” being at Little Ladybirds, where she works in our tweenie room, and is able to combine this with looking after her cousin too.
“I still take her to a youth club every week after finishing work, so I now have the best of both worlds,” says Felicity.
“I had a big family growing up so I thought childcare could be for me, and now I know it definitely is I couldn’t be happier.”
Outside of work, 21-year-old Felicity enjoys spending time with her friends.
