Science lessons at Little Ladybirds Day Nursery

Weird science

Coming to nursery should be about having fun, but our very own Mad Professors (e.g. our staff!) are always concocting ways of introducing learning that will prepare the children when they go to school.

One of their┬álatest ‘madcap’ schemes was to have a science day, but this was no ordinary lesson. Instead, the children helped to build a volcano and with the help of some baking soda and vinegar, they created their own ‘molting’ lava.

They also did lots of other experiments and really enjoyed their first science ‘lesson’.

Little Ladybirds Day Nursery Manager, Jennifer Thompson, said: “Coming to nursery should, of course, be about having lots of fun, but it’s important that the children are learning each day as well.

“The science day was a good example of something that was very much about fun, but, and without even probably knowing it, the children were picking up things that will serve them well when they go into full-time education.”
